In their words

What people say after taking it

  • “Haliscope had me introspect in ways I hadn’t really done in a long time. It helped me synthesize my own thoughts and pointed me toward what I actually want to get out of my career and just life in general.”
    Charlie CCharlie C
  • “Software Engineer and Religious Leader were on my list of career matches. It sounds crazy, but both were literally spot-on. I didn’t tell Haliscope this, but I’m taking classes on software engineering and lead a community group in my church! I feel excited to keep going.”
    Will JWill J
  • “I’d pay for the questions alone. It was such a valuable guided reflection—I learned about myself even before the results!”
    Sarah WSarah W
  • “Everyone should do this, at least once a year, to help stay strategic and set up goals. Hugely helpful for me!”
    Grant D
  • “I’ve sampled most of the career and personality assessments out there for personal growth and team building. I was immediately impressed with Haliscope’s customization, combining some familiar elements of personality tests, and yet, delivering a refreshingly personalized output. I intend to recommend this tool to the rest of my team!”
    Peter WPeter W
  • “The questions made me ask things I’d avoided for years. I expected career advice and ended up reflecting on my whole life, not just my job.”
    Nina JNina J
  • “Haliscope was really easy to complete. The questions were unique and forced me to be quite introspective. And the results were easy to interpret and helped me learn more about what I value!”
    Chris M
  • “Haliscope made taking a personality assessment fun! I especially enjoyed the creative prompts and timed exercises, like brainstorming different uses for a paperclip. I appreciated the transparency about the methodology and the reasoning behind the assessment, too.”
    Vaneshia R

The difference

Six things Haliscope does differently

It reads how you answer, not just what you answer

Beyond your answers, Haliscope evaluates your sentiment, sentence structure, and word choice — important details which reveal a lot about you. Most assessments never see this data at all.

Every score has real context

You’re evaluated against real jobs and real people. Leveraging Department of Labor data, we evaluate your fit not just to a job description, but to all the tasks that each job entails. And your traits are scored against all previous test-takers (anonymized, of course).

You get a roadmap, not just a label

Your report is written entirely for you, and customized based on your goals. It doesn’t just tell you who you are today — it also builds you a roadmap for exploring what’s next.

Questions worth answering

Haliscope’s questions are thought-provoking and occasionally surprising. Respondents tell us the assessment alone was worth the time — a chance to reflect and refocus.

Built using trusted frameworks

An evolution of the HEXACO and RIASEC models, connecting to real jobs data from O*NET. Learn more about our foundations below.

Your data stays yours

Unlike some other assessments, we never sell your personal data or the inferences we draw from it. Our systems are protected with enterprise-grade security.

The comparison

How Haliscope compares to other personality and career tests

Haliscope captures more data, with a more engaging test experience, in less time — to deliver a deeply personalized result, tied to real jobs.

Myers-Briggs · measuring creativity

“When faced with a problem, do you prefer to apply familiar, tried-and-true solutions or brainstorm new, untested approaches?”

You tell the test what you think you'd do.

Haliscope · measuring creativity

“You have 60 seconds — list as many alternative uses for a paperclip as possible.”

The test watches what you actually do.

The instrument

Eleven traits, measured on a continuum

Haliscope measures 11 traits, but results focus on personal insights rather than categorizing respondents into types. Where you sit on each is a position on a scale, not a letter.

The lineage

Built better, from strong foundations

Haliscope is an evolution of two major threads of psychological assessment — one measuring personality, the other measuring vocational interest.

Personality assessment

1949
16 Factors. Factor analysis condenses thousands of trait words into sixteen descriptors.
1961
Five-Factor Model. Sixteen descriptors condense further into five.
1984
The Big Five. OCEAN emerges as it is known today.
2004
HEXACO. Ashton and Lee adjust the Big Five and add honesty-humility, giving the model moral context.

Interest & career assessment

1927
Strong Vocational Interest Blank. One of the first widely used career assessments.
1959
Holland Codes. RIASEC ties career interests to personality traits.
1970
Self-Directed Search. Makes RIASEC self-administered.
1998
O*NET. The Department of Labor expands the SDS and maps it to a comprehensive jobs database.

Present day

Haliscope

Evolves personality and career indicators from the RIASEC and HEXACO models, with an augmented assessment of morality and tolerance. Integrates job data directly from O*NET. Expands data collection from multiple-choice to open text, uploads, rankings, and other dynamic exercises.

Assessment results conclude with a detailed roadmap to tie insights to action.

Questions

Before you start

The seven things people ask most often.

See all questions →
What does it cost?

Taking the assessment and seeing a shortened preview is free. The full report — trait breakdown, three career pathways, career-interest analysis, roadmap — is $10.00, once. No subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If your report didn’t meet your expectations, contact us and tell us what fell short, and we’ll refund you in full. Refunds are limited to one per customer.

How long does it take?

About 20 minutes for 45 questions. Some are written responses and two are timed, so it’s worth doing in a single sitting when you’re not rushed.

Is this just an AI wrapper?

No. We are a real team and this is a real product.

Team: We are a US-based team of 5, and have spent over a year building and refining this assessment. We’re committed to making this the best product it can be, to equip today’s career-discerners to find joy and dignity in their work. We respond to our support email — please feel free to get in touch.

Product: The eleven dimensions are Haliscope’s own, developed from the HEXACO personality model and Holland’s RIASEC interest framework, and each carries a written definition the analysis is held to rather than left to a model’s intuition. A language model reads your written answers against those definitions. What follows is not a model’s opinion at all: your profile is scored against O*NET occupational data by fixed rules, with the same weights and tolerances for everyone.

What happens to my data?

Your responses produce your report and improve the assessment. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not sell the inferences we draw from it. Ask us to delete it and we will act on that within 30 days; the Privacy Policy sets out what we keep and why.

Do I get a personality type?

No, and that’s deliberate. Traits are continuously distributed — most people sit somewhere in the middle rather than at either pole. Haliscope reports where you fall on each of eleven scales and what that implies for specific occupations, instead of rounding you to the nearest label.

Why should I trust the results?

Because you can check the work. The methodology page sets out how the eleven traits are derived, how scoring works, and where the known limitations are — including the ones that are inconvenient for us. Occupational matching uses O*NET data published by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Twenty minutes. Then you’ll know.
